I would be concerned about the flex of the coach when leveling. I assume the two piece with gasket has a little more give to it.

Is the light always off. I believe the way mine works, when you flip the switch the light comes on while lighting then goes off once it lights. So light should be off most of the time.

How about a fake skylight. Should be able to fabricate something that looks like a skylight but run wires to add lights. Maybe add solar if concerned about battery drain.

My door has a strap that attaches to the wall on either side of the door. It's factory, but I don't like that it's hard to un-snap, may replace with velcro.
