My tip is make a list of things to do before departing, double check that list and then walk around the RV looking at everything, including underneath, to make sure you've not forgotten to disconnect, raise, shut and/or push in a single thing.
Not a motorhome or even RV situation, but last year I saw a utility trailer sitting cross-wise against two lanes of traffic on a four lane road. The exit from the shopping center had a large dip and the trailer owner had not jacked up the tongue jack far enough. It hit the pavement and caused the trailer to disconnect. I realize you're not a trailer, but that's the sort of thing you want to avoid.
