Thumbs up new member central Florida Needs Itasca Horizon Info

We are in the process of tradeing for an Itasca Horizon 2007 IKS40FD.
This has a 400 cummins engine, 4 slides. Among the options is a GPS
navigation system original cost 2,730.00. At this point we do not know the
mfg but does anyone know what mfg system it might be and can it be updated or might it be outdated? Also with this RV how do we find out about any 'recalls' as to whether or not they were done?
Thanks

Hi folks! Welcome to the forum! We're sure glad you joined us!

I can't help with the questions, but I would suggest that you post specific questions over in the appropriate areas of the forum for better results. Not many folks hang out here in the Welcome area.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Welcome to the forum. Hopefully someone will have an answer for. It's also a good idea to call Winnebago to register yourself as the new owner.

My personal opinion is that the installed GPS is not up to my trucker Garmin. I have not even tried to learn or use the one in my 2012 motor home

Welcome to the forum.

I have nearly the same coach... 2007 Itasca Ellipse 40FD... and we love it.

I don't know much about the GPS system. We didn't buy that very expensive option. You might want to give a call to Winnie tech support. They're great to work with.

Best of luck.

The OEM GPS is undoubtedly outdated, not to mention a hassle to update. You'll be far better served by just buying a new RV specific GPS. Ours sits on the dash, right on top of the one American Coach installed.

Rand McNally and Magellen both make them good RV units.

GPS... if you go here 2007 Catalog Menu you can get the parts fische for your specific model.

Looking at yours, it specifies the GPS is Winnie part # 137424-08-000 (or -06-000) depending on build date.

Looking in the Winnie Parts catalog, 137424-08-000 shows as being the NVE-N872A GPS system.

Googling that takes you to Alpine Alpine Electronics of America, Inc.

Hope this helps...

Contact Freightliner with the VIN. They will be able to give you chassis history.
Call 1-800-FTL-HELP.

I agree with JMonroe. If you can find the GPS manufacturer and If they still offer an update you will probably find it much more expensive than purchasing a new GPS of almost any brand.

Eagle65,
It was an Alpine GPS that was very good in its day. It is now out of date and no longer made and no updates are available. Just buy a newer unit and forget the old unit. Garmon and Rand McNally seem to be the most popular. Welcome to Winnebago and safe travels.
