Site Asking For Speedtest

Every time I open up the Winnieowners site I get a pop up asking if I want to run a speedtest for a campground I was in over a month ago. I really would like it to stop as it is just annoying.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I run AdBlock and do not see ads. I added it as an extension to Chrome.

I highly recommend that you use CCleaner at least once-per-day. It removes Cookies & Crud where malware resides. The free version works just fine:
https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download
I also only use two browsers; Brave for most uses:
https://brave.com/
and Seamonkey for the times when Brave cannot display a page properly, or when you need an HTML editor. It is the old Netscape now maintained by a user community:
https://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/
Both of these browsers work wonderfully for this forum.

P.S. I do not use a Smartphone; only a 4G flip-phone. My comments above may only apply when using a Windows 7 notebook computer.

If you check the box to stay logged in it will only ask you once until you move to a new location. The forum owners are trying to put together a directory of WIFI quality at various campgrounds as a resource for members to use. It's on all the forums that they own, it's not for advertisement, it's something they are trying to do for our benefit.

Yep, rvlife.com (who owns winneowner.com and many other websites) began this early this year.Add blockers are useless. It's really not much to deal with, just a new feature to help those who cannot live without fast internet.
I ignore it and the pop-up disappears after several seconds.

I don't see this pop up for some reason - but I'd suggest that you use the "LOG OUT" button, then close all your browser windows and then come back and log in.

This should delete all of the cookies in your browser for the site and then when you log back in hopefully that speed test option will be gone.

It's just a suggestion - I have nothing to do with this "feature" and don't know if this will solve your issue. Basically its a SWAG.

All, I do all that you have suggested, except denying the location. I'll do that next time, but that pop-up is annoying also. All pop-ups are annoying, Yes, I have ad-block plus and ghostery installed. I run malware search routinely. I clear history, cookies and logins regularly. My location services is turned on and my browser is listed in the location privacy settings.

I may not know it all but as a retired Information Security Specialist from a government agency I think I might know a little.

If you look at my original post pay attention to the statement that it is asking for a speediest for a campground I was at over a month ago.

Wayne, that sounds like browsing history is involved somehow.
Take a look at Glary-Utilities software. I've used it many times with good results to remove persistant cookies and other junk.
