Stock radio upgrade questions??

I'm not sure what section to post this in so here goes. I have an 04 journey DP with the magnadyne m9900 radio. I want to upgrade to a more modern radio and make the sound system better. After pulling the stock radio out I noticed all the speaker wires go into a plug and only front and rear speakers come out the other side. I'm not sure how the DHS surround system works between the tv and radio. Is there any one out there that has tackled this?

We don't have the same coach. But faced with a similar issue, I ran all new wires and installed an Alpine Deck, enlarged the speaker holes, and used Fosgate speakers. Love the sound.

Throbin367,

I have the Meridian 36 G, same year and replaced my Magnadine with a Walmart JVC KD SR81BT. The JVC is a din and a half and the Magnadine is 2 din. I pop riveted plastic strips behind the opening to get it 1.5 din.

The wiring is in the book for the JVC and I got the wiring for the old radio off of the Winnie Resource page and spliced into the old wiring. I used the connectors supplied with the new radio. I did not have to locate the DHS System since I tapped into the old wires running into it.

The JVC has Bluetooth, and USB. Sound is great.

I found on magnadynes website, they sell a adapter to fill the hole and make it a 1 din but I'm going to see if Best Buy has one first. (Byetheway), I was thinking about doing what you did but need to wait until I have more time to see where wires are going

DHS Mobile Theater System, made by River Park; its the pseudo-surround sound amp for that era's Winnebago RV. It's used to send TV and radio audio to the surround speakers in various configurations.
