Slide Out- Manual Retraction

I have a 2016 Winnebago Micro Minnie 2106FBS and recently the slide out would not retract. How to you retract the slide out manually?

I'm not sure if the drive mechanism on the Micro is the same as on the plain Minnie. Mine is some sort of gear-driven mechanism; there's tracks on the top and bottom of the slide's sides (see photo). I have not been able to locate an access hatch to the motors, and the dealer tech during PDI was unaware of how to manually retract the slide. The manual is as clear as mud on the type of drive I have.

Our old unit had cables. If that's what you have the drive motor should be behind the trim on the top side of the slide (inside the TT). I had two flexible cables that were to be used in the event of an issue; insert the cable into the drive motor and the other end into an electric drill. Fortunately I never had need to see if the approach worked.

On the 2018 minnie, I was told that the gear is at the top on the inside. Removing a screw disengaged the gear and then it could be manually push in from the outside. I'll have to do more research to be sure of this.

I had a 2106 2106FBS with the sofa in the slide out. If you have a dinette, these instructions might not apply.

If you take the panel off the bottom of the sofa you will see the slide conrtrol module, motor, and a shaft running the distance between the slide out tracks. The right end of this shaft is formed into a hex for use with a socket.

I cant remember the size, its 5/8 or 3/4 I think. Get your longest ratchet and crank it in by hand from there.

Id send a picture but I traded that one in when the dog outgrew it.

Good luck

I believe the slide out system is the Schwintek by Lippert systems. That is what I have on my 2018 2500RL Minnie. I'm still researching on how to retract. My PDI guy was pretty much worthless and when asked, said "I think you can disengage it in there" while pointing to the slide frame. Like I said...worthless.

This might help if you have the Schwintek system.

I can't agree more on this point. Our PDI was very good except for this item, and the manual provided by Winnebago isn't much clearer.

I found the above video useful, but note some inner trim around the slide has already been removed (not addressed) and the slide is partially in. In my research I have found that it is best to not do this as it can lead to de-synchronization of the motors (see video below).

Here are a few links I've found that may be generally helpful:

motor lubrication

LCI troubleshooting guide

Troubleshooting flow chart

Owner's manual

Unfortunately the Lippert site links for manuals are all dead!

Please post whatever you find out. Thanks.

I haven't heard back from Lippert as yet (I told them about the dead links) but Winnebago replied, and provided this link. Click on the "manuals" tab for information.

Wow, this info is AMAZING!

We just bought our first one yesterday, a 2020 2401RG. Picking it up next week. I'm trying to learn everything I can beforehand, as really a newbie.

Thanks!

Looks like the link was a dupe from SummitPond's post above
