As for your upgrade to the DB522 Coax Speakers, did you have to make any spacer rings up for the interior or was it plug and play?
They were essentially plug and play, there was enough depth, no spacer rings needed. All I did was change out the 1/4" unprotected OEM spade connectors with the protected 1/4" and 1/8" spade connectors included with the speakers. Also drilled new mounting holes since these use 4 screws and the OEM speakers used 3 screws. What I found really nice was that Winnebago installed 3/4" plywood as a backer above the ceiling for the speaker screws to bite into.

Nice, a much easier upgrade than that of the exterior. Much better sound than the original too.

You will find the 6 1/2" DB652 will give you a little more base to disturb the neighbors lol.

I was thinking about using pods for mounting my exterior speakers. It's stated, these will except 5.25" to 6.5" speakers. The base measures 11" x 8.5".

I looked at those but I felt the base was way to big for my liking. I then looked to see what was out there for 5 1/4" (mounts, not much more).

The MDF or PVC/ABS route is the easiest if you can find it. The ring must have an id no smaller than 5" and an OD of no smaller than 7 1/8". This will accommodate a silicone seal to make the grill to spacer water tight.

These rings and filling them with epoxy was the only thing I could find at the time to my liking. I'm extremely happy with the outcome.

I agree, the pod size is a drawback. Thanks for the sizing info. for the rings.
