Minnie Winnie flat roof

Hey guys, I have had my 2017 former rental Minnie Winnie 31k for a little over two years now and love it. when I bought it I especially love the fiberglass roof, but never liked the idea of a flat roof.

Flash forward two years and the amount of water that collects up there even from simple condensation over night is crazy. I check the sealant on the roof pretty regularly, but a puddle sitting against a pinhole is likely to leak over time without me even knowing.

How concerned should I be about the flat roof? Anything per-emptive I can do?

I considered running a long small aluminum angle-iron just inside the edges to catch and hold the water away from the main edge sealant. Worth it or a waste of time?

Thanks!

Give it a six inch tilt so the water runs off?

Nice, simple solution, Morich. I don't think it would take 6".

I do when it sits in storage, but while camping I like it level. I am just curious if anyone has had any issues with leaks due to the pooling.

Here's a low-tech, no cost solution: Level up as normal in dry weather. But either before or after wet weather, make your level a half bubble to the aft to prevent the runoff onto the front of your rig.

I also have a Minnie Winnie and as long as I can inspect the roof periodically I'm not concerned about unexpected leaks.

Flat roof

Note: Be aware about setting the MH to much from being level,
The refridgerator must be in a level setting to work properly. As these type of refridgerators use gravity to return the refridgerat gas to be reheated again. (either by gas flame or electic element) They don't have a compressor to move the refridgerant around like a refridgerator in your home.

Agreed. The manual for my Minnie Winnie says the level bubble needs to be at least half way in the inner circle of the surface mount level for the Norcold fridge. That half bubble should provide enough slope for water to run off the roof.

I have had four motorhomes with flat roofs (none rubber, thankfully) from. ‘79 to ‘18. The only problem I ever had was one MN winter when I had parked on a slight hill and freezing/thawing lifted the front cap seal. We discovered it when we found two ice stalactites growing between the front seat. The nuisance on our 40 foot Phaeton was the mold and leaf rot that accumulated along one edge. I would not worry about pinholes. Continue to check end cap and edge seals. (Your lucky you can get on the roof. My 1028 Aspect has not ladder! Bad design flaw!)
