Dinette covering

Our dinette frame is covered in fabric. Has anyone removed this and either painted or recovered? We are wanting to changing out the look, but aren't sure what is under there. I'd be willing to cover in fabric, but would need to make sure I have enough, but would prefer to paint if the wood isn't just pressboard. 2014 Winnebago Vista 35F. Thanks for your input.

As a guy who used to do a few "rebuilds, I would say the only real way to find what you have is to look!
folks do what I consider weird things on decor and some will cover a really nice wood because they hate wood.
On the other hand, it may be really nice wood but where they set the small electric heater too close and burned a big spot!
Did the dogs chew a hunk out of the corner, so they covered it?

See what I mean? It might come from the factory as really nice but not be what you want to look at now!
