To your question - Look into satellite Internet like Huges; Motosat or similar. Dish, Direct, etc., are known as “media providers”. The direction of technology is “streaming”, away from “satellite TV” media providers. The reason is that there is much more choice (including Dish Anywhere and Direct TV) and lower total cost. In addition internet phone (VOIP = Voice Over Internet) and E- is available with a WEB Satellite Antenna. Check out what semi-truck drivers are using.
My current RV setup is a Winegard Trav’lr w Joey receiver. It’s an amazing piece of technology. It takes some patience while the travler unfolds itself, searches for the three satellites then tells Joey what it has. The total setup is rather expensive, the installation is mildly complex and the results are very good. But-
I agree with Morich, the Dish TV is expensive, lots of commercials and limited program choice.
They advertise 120 channels but 50% are infomercials or foreign language programs. Now that I have installed the Dish System, I’m stuck with the Dish only antenna hard mounted on the roof, although Dish TV and Hughs now offer a WEB capability for added cost. I think it is better to go with a WEB antenna which is larger than the satellite media providers’ antenna and pay the added cost for the ability to choose programming..
Regarding antenna size – Three things determine the size of the antenna: 1, the frequency of the broadcaster (the curvature of the dish and 2. the distance of the “horns” from the deepest part of the dish) and 3, the gain or strength of TV signal provided (the area of the dish).
Regarding programming – 1. Rediscover DVD libraries, order DVD’s on Amazon. Inexpensive, no commercials. 2. With WEB ISP (Internet Service Provider) you can subscribe to many streaming services including local stations, many are free. This is where the technology is headed and lastly, a WiFi extender "whip" antenna can "scab" a connection to your local Panaera or Grocery Store to get free internet.
