While checking the water in my batteries today, I discovered that the red positive-to-positive cable for my house batteries was badly corroded. I went to my local auto parts store to find a replacement and came-up empty.
It turns out that this is a specialty-type cable (12 inches long, #1 gauge wire with lugs on each end.)
Can someone point me to a place where I may obtain one?

I have seen an ad in the back of either FMCA or Motorhome magazines advertising battery cables. You might be able to find an auto-electric shop as well.

Another place you could check would be a large golf cart store. They often have to make up battery cables for the jobs they're working on.

Being it is a new coach. I would try local Winnebago dealer or call Winnebago Customer Service direct and ask for help. I have the same coach as you have and havewn't had that problem. Sounds like your batteries were too full and your charger overcharged them. I would take to Winnebago and have charging system checked out.
Also unless the lugs were broken I would try to clean them with a wire brush and re install them and then apply a little grease to them so it don't happen again Good luck and enjoy that coach.

You may have a battery leaking some acid near the post, or the post itself has a problem. Try the above advise for a cable replacement and get the battery looked at for a problem. You may find a welding shop can make up a cable for you also. --- Good Luck!!!

Hi Ho: Any good battery shop can make whatever cables are required. Look in the yellow pages for batteries.

Dan,
I made my own cables with 00 cable from an electrical supply house and crimped on lugs.
Did you get the second private message I sent to you about the vacuum breakers?
I know this is way off of the topic in question here, so please forgive me.
