Ellipse / Tour window crank issue

2015, 42qd ... the awning window cranks seem rather fragile. I seem to have suddenly damaged two in as many weeks. Guessing they were over-tightened upon last closing. Now they won't open at all via the crank. I'm guessing they have nylon gears and they're stripped? Anyone else have this problem?
