I started preparing our rig for our annual trek to Death Valley. As I was going through the routine maintenance stuff, I noticed the rear view camera is non-op.

The green "on" light comes on OK, the audio portion works, the brightness and contrast is operating, but, no picture (video.) I checked the rear of the monitor and the plug is properly attached and the 3amp fuse appears to be not blown.

I just recently had the rig washed (he used a pressure washer.) Could moisture somehow gotten into the camera and shorted it out?

Any help would be appreciated as I won't tow without the camera.

Dan

Pardon my question, if you've already checked the obvious, but could the monitor have 2 inputs. Sometimes the A/B input switch can be bumped on the front of the monitor.

Yes, the AB switch has been checked in all positions as well. Still no video

Dan - I had similiar symptoms although I did have a gray ghostly type image. I removed the camera and plugged it straight into the back of the monitor to eliminate any cable problems - still no image. Called Tim at rvcams and he correctly diagnosed a bad camera. Give him a call. He'll help you diagnose the problem, has whatever it takes to fix it, and can ship it to you quickly. Have a good trip!

Tom,

I called Tim and spoke to him about my problem. He's very pleasant and professional. I mentioned to him that my coach was receiently washed with a pressure washer. The diagnosis is: my camera is toast I'll give it a chance to dry out which is probably futile. If that doesn't work - $250 smackers for a new one. Thanks for the recommendation.

This has become quite an occurrence for the Sony Camera. A friend and myself both have 2004 units and we have also had to replace our cameras. We also ordered them from RV Cams. I hope the new ones hold up better than the old ones. I am pretty good with electronics and made every attempt to repair the camera. When I had it apart, there were no signs of contamination from the elements, so I blamed it on vibration.
