Where is Trik-L-Start installed on Vectra?
I recently gained a lot of practical knowledge by searching irv2.com for previous Vectra postings. One of the many things I learned relates to the popular topic of charging chassis batteries while on shore power.
It's my understanding that Winnebago factory started installing Trik-L-Start battery charger in Vectras starting in 2006. We have a 40-ft 2005 Vectra KD.
I've never had any problems with chassis batteries. This makes me wonder if we already have a factory installed Trik-L-Start.
Where did factory install the Trik-L-Start on Vectra?
Thank you in advance.

Shouldn't be far from the batteries themselves. Has to be direct wired to both house and chassis battery banks.

Is it mounted on the side wall of your battery compartment? It's black and about the size of two decks of cards stacked on top of one another. \ken

In some cases they are wired across the emergency start solenoid which is generally in the engine compartment.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I believe that Winnie began installing these in the 2005/2006 time frame.
On my 2007 Ellipse, it is not in the battery bay but rather on the other side of the coach in the electrical/inverter bay. There's a larger black cover which I had to remove to reveal that it was there.

Here is a Winnebago Service Tip 2006-04 Trik-L-Start - that describes where to mount the Trik-L-Start on 2005 Vectras (among others).

I installed mine on my 2006 Journey (built mid 2005) according to the Winnebago Service tip referenced above. Has worked well there for the last 8 years. I am still on the original two starting batteries. I will probably replace the starting batteries this spring after this year's Indiana winter is over just due to their age (they will be 9 years old in the spring) and having a very long trip planned for next year.

On my 09 Journey, it is installed in the DS electrical compartment behind the rear axle. Evidently they install most of the equipment powered by the chassis batteries there including the electric Power Gear slide controllers. Mine is beside the charge solinoid which it also mounted there and connected to the Trik-L-Start.
Good luck,

I just installed mine. 2005 Itasca Horizon. In mine, and i'm guessing the 2005 Vecta also, the location for it is under the black box above the Dimension inverter.
unscrew the cover.. you'll find the 2 solenoids. I mounted the TrickLStart on the OUTSIDE.. drilled a hole, rubber grommet, and pulled the wires thru to the solenoids. Now i can just lift the Elec compartment lid and i can see the lights /status.
what a difference it made....
