Winnebago Speedometer

Having trouble with our speedometer in our 2002 winnebago brave. The speedometer does not register anything over 38 miles per hour. Replaced the sensor and this was not the problem. Mechanic is saying that the part that is needed is no longer available. Sent out the "cluster" to be repaired and it came back saying that it is not repairable.

Has anyone else had this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions.
Thanks.

I would do a search of RV graveyards looking for the whole speedometer assembly.

Have you thought of giving this place a call: Lichtsinn Motors - Iowa RV Parts - Iowa RV Accessories - Located in Forest City, Iowa
They may be able to help run a part down.

Yes, I have the same problem with my 2000 Fleetwood 35s. Mine won't go over 40 MPH and when I stop it still regesters 40 for about a hour. I had the rear senser on the axle replaced last week and never solved my problem.

I have the same problem with my Chieftain. The odometer still works so I use my gps for speed which is more accurate anyways.

Your speedo uses a small electric stepper motor to show speed. If a good Speedometer shop can't fix it, I'd be very surprised. Other option is to look at salvage yards, or figure out who made the dash cluster, that might expand the possibilities.

My speedo is off by 5 mph at 60, so I rely on my GPS for speed info. Also, you could buy a $12 bicycle speedo and install that. Put the sensor magnet on the closest front wheel, pickup sensor behind it on brake backing plate, run the wires up to the dash. Input the tire circumference and your good to go. I had to do this on my kid's car that had a plastic gear broken off in the transmission. It wasn't worth a trans rebuild so I put in the bicycle speedo. She loved the idea that it registered 10ths of mph!

check out the scan gauge ll. if it will work on your moho, one of the readouts is mph along with 24 other readouts.
if you buy it from oemy, an advertiser on this website, he will program all of the x gauge items for your moho prior to shipping it to you.
i find that the digital speedometer function of my sc2 is more accurate by 2-3 mph than my dash speedo (per my gps).
i really like my sc2. i paid about $160 for mine over 5 years ago.

Mine jumped to 40 as soon as I started moving. RV Dealer replaced it under warranty. Ford even set the odometer to the 1/10th. Invoice showed $536+ $115 install.
