Towing with 2018 View

Hey considering potential vehicles to flat tow behind my 2018 View. Considering a 2dr Wrangler at about 3700lbs. Manual states 5000lbs is the max. Wondering how that will impact the driving characteristics, mileage, handling, hills, etc.

Also wondering about how much to expect to pay for the towing package?

Thanks in advance for the responses.

There are many discussions regarding towing with a View, and somewhere within those also includes details on towing a Wrangler;

We have found over the years that tow packages can vary between towed's and installed prices. We probably spent somewhere around $1500 the last time, installing it ourselves, and buying a new portable braking system so we can use it for the next one as well.
We were able to use our same tow bar which is why we purchased the same brand of base plate for our latest, and not having to use adapters.
So besides the portable braking system we purchased a base plate and light kit for about $600, this time.

Far as handling by buddy and I installed same package last year on his 2017 view/wrangler and he says doesn't even know it's back there. Must confess he mostly travels flat to moderate hills no mountains yet but with the diesel /view package I was pulling dollie/VW package last year and no prob over the Great Smoky Mtns in TN Good Luck !

Tow equipment recommendation

Make it easy for yourself; due the following:
1. Purchase a used 2014 Honda CRV AWD: they are light and are bullet proof reliability and they flat tow very easy. Great after market sale later when not needed.
2. Purchase all Roadmaster tow equipment. They integrate well with no problems and have been tested to work together. I prefer the all Falcon all terrain tow assembly because they will not give you problems on uneven road base to include gravel and dirt roads. They also fold up well with a cover when not in use and stay with the coach.
3. If you install supplemental braking which I highly recommend SMI Duo stay and play system. It is very reliable and does not tear up your tow interior. Most of it fits under the hood of the car.

2016 Sonic

We are towing a 2016 Chevy Sonic hatchback 5 speed manual with Roadmaster towbar and ancillary gear behind View 24V, including Roadmaster Invisibrake. Excellent results. Cannot tell toad is behind us. Costs 1 mpg- 14.7 to 13.7 mpg. Does reasonably well on 7% grades.

Similar performance towing our 2012 CRV AWD.
