FWIW as I understand it a previous owner changed the awning without changing the control box to the one for the new awning. The current sensing is probably set for the old awning with a fixed value...

The circuitry is pretty basic and pretty simple for anyone who has messed with controllers. When the motor hits the end of travel the current spikes up....
