I highly recommend the use of spring loaded carabiners at the tie down ends. It's all too common for "J" hooks to pop off when tension is lost going over big bumps.

I like the solid steel rather than the aluminum, because steel will bend before it fails, but aluminum can tear without any warning. Mine weighs 42 lbs and has a capacity of 300 lbs.
