As a added note, we threw away all the blinds and valances, bought solar shades and new valences from blinds.com for about $100 per window.

I removed all mine. I couldn't find screws, so I just started slipping a flat screwdriver between the wall and valance just applying slight pressure until I could find the places that would not move....
