So, I read how your manual says it is always on. Read mine again. Says it goes out. Makes sense. Cuts down on parasitic power drain. Explains our door switch.

Pop the light cover and see if there is a shorted wire, loose bulb, etc. But, most likely you have a bad door switch. Or it is stuck. If you have your manual, it should show you how to change and...
