Paul, I don't think there is any problem applying Eternabond over the paint. We have a metal roof on the house that is painted. The installers used Eternabond in a couple areas for extra protection...

I think the roof is of poor design. But the manual does state how often to check and repair. So as I see it Winnebago has covered the subject. IMHO, Eternabond is the best way to do a lasting fix....
