IMO, yes. The 3 blade "elf ear" fan is much quieter. Be sure it is a D series. Previous versions will break.

joop, do you recall how close the fan motor is to the electric box? Could it be occasionally touching? Simple fix might be some foam pipe insulation wedged between the motor and the box....

Joopy, same problem with noise. I Macgyvered a satisfactory solution. Quiet inside and out. First, you need more than the revised fan. The kit should include a U shaped support for the "bendy"...
