I believe your model is the same as mine and does not need to be changed. I had to jump the gray wires (of thermostat) connect them together with a clip..I did not make a cut...just a jumped...

maybe I should try it after a full charge and using no tv at all...my ec 30 is showing it is charging full after the first run but I know it is really not because the generator should take 5 or more...
