In the past we have found that ours worked better on gas than electric, you might try that for a day or two.

We now have a residential refrigerator and don't want to go back.

Yes, all you have to do to hold them in place is use what ever is an approved caulk/sealant for you roof every couple of feet to hold the wires in place and keep the wind from blowing them.

Can you run them on top of the roof and use the entry point from your existing satellite entry point? This a pretty common way I have seen over the years.
