I'd say you're correct on used RV's, but incorrect on new units. I've bought 2 new TT's (different dealers) and both were inspected and systems tested before I ever arrived to do my own inspection.

30% bleach/water solution. Test in inconspicuous place first. Spray on and blot dry. Re-apply after it dries if it needs more. I tried everything and bleach was the best.
