Coaxial Cable to Antenna

Hi folks I have a Minie Winnie RV and the cable to the roof antenna has shorted out, (rot) I have tried all I know to find a guide to replace it but seems like Winnebagg has taped the coax to other wires every foot making it impossible to pull it out.

That is likely the case, and you'll need to run a new Coax cable between the roof and the TV. Can you remove the TV antenna and get into the RV via the hole in the roof for the original cable? Or better yet, install a new better TV antenna in a different location on the roof and just start fresh.

Or is it possible to repair the existing? I find most coax goes bad at the ends where things are more exposed to weather and wear. Is there enough to peel back to clear the short?

JMiles... don't take offense, but do you know how to get the antenna to work on your RV?

I don't know how familiar you are with your RV, so I wanted to ask because many newbie owners don't understand about the "ant/cable" switch and how to make their TV work with the antenna.

Right, then I guess you know what's needed - you have to find a new way to run a coax from the roof into your RV.

J, did you use a volt/ohm meter to check for shorts. If so, were both ends of the cable NOT connected to anything? Could it be the cable from the amplifier box and not from the antenna?

Just for giggles, when using the original did you have the booster on?

Before repairing the connector did you meter the cable for shorts again with just the bare end and shield?

Just thinking out loud!
