Noisy A/C Blower Fan 2014 Meridian 34B

While we were at FCCSC our front heat pump started a helluva racket at 3:00 in the morning. (they always wait until some ungodly hour to go south). After unburying the squirrel cage blower... A new one was ordered, actually 2 I figure the rear will be the next one to go. Took the time to clean out the blower housing too.

Just another day as a millionaire DP owner!

Good move to purchase extras - this is a long running issue on older Coleman-Mach Heat Pumps. They made improvements in about 2017 that fixed the issue pretty much completely.

Your flat fans look like older models, too. The fan blades can fly off and cause real havoc. Aircel was providing replacements for free and supplying a metal "hat" that holds the units cover up and away from the fan blades.

The 5-blade fan like mine below is noisy outside and now they make a newer 3-blade with a "hat" that is quieter. In fact, they have made versions A, B, C and D

Here's the "D" model on Amazon (notice the D in the part number): https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-1472D.../dp/B019QGXEI8

Funny how much a piece of plastic can cost, not to mention how much damage it can do coming apart at speed. I have added those to the list of "stuff"...

I also replaced the water hose inlet. The check valve was missing and someone had put a wye on it and was using the shutoff to stop the backflow.

My list keeps growing, even with getting things done. However, the items appear to be less critical as I move down the list.

Trying to plan a couple of trips in the next month or so to get some more shake down time.

I think it might be a good idea for folks to remove the rooftop A/C covers and clean the coils every now and then. I bought my rig in 2020; it was four years old at the time, and it just didn't seem to be cooling very well. I decide last year to clean the coils and when I pulled off the cover on the front A/C I found that there were a whole bunch of Styrofoam beads clogging up about 40% of the evaporator coil. It cools better now that I removed the Styrofoam and cleaned the coils.
