Rookie television question

Brand new Winnie owner. In fact, we won't take delivery until later this week but I have a television question. On our 2018 Micro Minnie I see that the television brand is the Insignia. Last year I was researching ac/dc televisions for our TT and learned that Insignia was one of the preferred brands. Do the Minnies come supplied with ac/dc televisions? I'm guessing not but figured it doesn't hurt to ask...

I can't speak for the Micro, but my '17 View has one AC and one DC TV. Word of advice: check the remotes for all functions.

I haven't bothered checking for 12V operation on ours. I know there is a 120V power chord coming up the back to an overhead plug. I will go out tomorrow to check and let you know.

In our 2 year old 2106DS, the TV is strictly AC.

Just checked. The TV is AC only in ours. There is 12 VDC in the area due to the antenna/cable wall plate which someone might be able to tap into for a 12V TV but I have no idea if its electrical circuit can handle the additional capacity.

I bought a 175 watt inverter off of Amazon and plugged it into that 12VDC plug. I ran the TV just fine off of it. The TV only pulls about 65 watts.

Insignia is Best Buy's house brand. Jensen used to make 12V TVs but I haven't seen one for awhile.

Some of the newer TV's that use a power brick would likely do ok on the trailers DC supply. While I never tried it the Samsung I purchased for our old trailer used a 13.? VDC output brick. I suspect it would have run fine off the trailer 12V system as long as a heavy enough wire was used.

The inverter you bought only has a cigarette lighter plug. How did you connect it to the 12VDC power that feeds the antenna?

In the cabinet under the TV, the antenna booster switch has a 12 volt plug. I just plugged the inverter into that and the TV into the inverter. I only need to hook up the inverter if we are dry camping. The rest of the time, the TV runs off of shore power.

Suggest you buy a small inverter with no fan, it will be quieter and be more efficient. Search for silent inverter on Amazon.

Our 2018 2108DS has an Insignia TV, strictly 110VAC. Jensen makes a 32" 12VDC television for about $350, which probably explains why there isn't one in the 2108. We plan to just get along without TV when dry camping, or watch something on a laptop.

Small inverters without a fan get hot. The “fanned” inverters are not noisy.
