Well I've finally got a weird problem while on the road. I'm running on 30 amps (Rig is 50 amp)in the CG and everything has been running fine for 3 days.

EMS has been shutting down appliances as needed until this morning. This morning the EMS readout froze at 32 amps. The lights on the appliance side are all out, yet everything is working fine.

Being so far away from home I don't have a clue as where to take it that won't see me as a mark far from home. I have a couple of questions.

Has anyone had this particular problem and if so what was the fix and is it a DIY once you get the part?

Is it a critical problem that should be looked into immediately, or can I wait till I get home? Right now I'm in Philadelphia and won't be home to California until end of month.

I did a search but found no problem quite like mine. I'd like to either fix it myself or wait until I get home. What are your opinions?

Thanks to all
Tom

I haven't had that kind of problem, but the display is powered by a data cable from the EMS board. I think there is a auto type fuse on the board. You might try pulling the fuse for a few minutes. The board may reset itself.

Check your HOUSE batteries. While on 30amp if your using the air you can't charge fast enough to keep up and in a few days your house batteries will go down and it effects the EMS like you wouldn't believe. Start the engine to charge things up (the generator will NOT do it) only the vehicle alternator can charge it fast enough.

Thanks guy's.

Rick I checked the battery and its ok. I hardly have used the AC. I do use heat pump at night.

Dan I'll try that later today. I imagine to get to the back of the board all I have to do is remove the 8 screws that are on the face of the board, correct?

Before you go to a lot of trouble, you might want to cycle the battery disconnect for a minute or two. It may allow the EMS to "reboot". Just a thought.

Bingo Norm. Thanks. I shut down everything for a couple of minutes and when I got on line EMS had rebooted and working fine.

Thanks
Tom

You know the old saying - even a blind pig finds an acorn occassionally.

Just glad I could help, and that it was so easy. I spent 30+ years as an applications engineer - I contend a lazy man can make a lot more profit than an industrious one - he figures out the quick and easy way, instead of trying to re-engineer the world.
