Third owner of 1998 Winnebago 35wp with ford chassis. First owner disconnected dash air due to gas mileage concerns from what i was told by 2nd owner. How would i go about figuring out how he disconnected and what can i do to reconnect? Fan motors still work blowing hot air.
He may have removed the drive belt from the compressor, that is where he reduced load on the motor to increase gas mileage, but usually that doesn't make a huge difference. That is where I would check first.
What is more likely is he had compressor problems, didn't want to pay the exhorbinant cost to replace it and other parts and simply cut the drive belt off the frozen compressor.
Now, to get it going you'll need to have that compressor checked out, the receiver dryer replaced an the whole system recharged.
When you find out the cost for this you too will go without dash air to save on gas mileage.
