Yes, I used a 32" model.
I removed the doors completely. Built a blacked out, 4" wide picture frame to close out the space behind the TV so that hanging cables were not visible thru the small space...

I did the upgrade to Samsung HD flat panels in our '07 38T 2 years back,
I removed the salon cabinet doors to allow a larger flat panel. She about 100# of weight in the process.
