Thank you, John. That sounds like a better solution than a heat strip in the basement air. I didn't even know such a thing existed.

I notice that on my 2001 Adventurer, the heat pump automatically switches to the gas furnace when it gets too cold. Is it possible to add a heat strip to this system so that I'm using shore power...
