Want to replace 2 door Norcold with same size residential

Hi - Looking for some advice on a brand and model that someone else has used to replace the 2 door Norcold with a same size residential fridge. I've found lots of forums covering the 4 door version but I want to stick with the smaller size.

Thanks
Ben

Ben, I have replaced many of the smaller ones with a Whirlpool 10 cu ft refer. For 400+ bucks- you will have so much added space and the power drain is less than having the absorption refer on electric mode- you and a buddy can do it yourselves

We put in a Whirlpool 11 cu. ft. that is 24" wide and required very little cutting. I didn't do anything about batteries or new inverter as we are plugged in 99% of the time. When we are on the road and it's hot we have the generator on for the house air anyway. It's one of the best things we have done especially since we live in it 7 months of the year.

Good luck,
Dave

Thanks guys for the input! It gives me encouragement to stick with the smaller fridge. Most folks seem to want to go to the big 4 door one. I'd rather have the pantry space. What does one do with a nice used Norcold after they take it out??

There should be a market. I gave mine to a friend that has a 5th wheel and had done many favors for me.

I agree. Both brands of rv fridges should "not" be given to anybody but trashed. Why would anyone want to give someone their problem.

I've had good luck selling RV stuff on consignment with a local RV retail store/repair shop. Call around, you many have one nearby that will do this. If not, Craigslist is another option.

I wouldn't have a problem trashing it except it works fine and I'd be happier keeping it out of the landfill if someone else could use it. We just want one with a little more space. I haven't thought about going the consignment route - good idea thanks.

Another option:

I put in a 10.3 (?) cubic foot Haier. Fit in the same space as the Norcold. I chose the Haier as the Whirpool door was to thick and stuck out to far into the living area so I couldn't open it all the way without hitting the cabinets.

Works good on my Xantrex 458 modified sine wave inverter. It tends to run cooler on the inverter than on 110 V house current so have 2 settings to maintain temp.

Very happy with the upgrade.

I have a 10.7 Whirlpool on my outdoor pool patio (covered). It sees ambient temps from 30's to 90's has worked great for 6 years. The current models have an available ice maker and gallon jug door storage. My choice if I scrap the Norcold, also with the doors removed the the width is only 21.5 inches, it will go in the RV door with no hassle. Home Depot sells it Black, White, Stainless.
