Tick-tick-tick sound in surround sound speakers
I have a 2004 Meridian with the surround sound speakers. When the button above the selector box is set to radio instead of TV and nothing is turned on I get a tick-tick-tick sound from the speakers. Not a loud sound, just loud enough to hear if there is no other sound in the coach. Is there any simple way to eliminate this sound, other than switching the button back to TV or changing the radio power switch on the dash from Auxilliary Power to Main Power, which I don't like to do for fear it could run down the chassis battery leaving me sunk for power to start the engine. Maybe this can't happen as long as the ignition switch is turned off.
Really not an earth shaking problem, just a nuisance.

My 03 Journey does the same thing. Mine does it in TV or Radio position. Just flip the source switch to main. The other "solution" seems to be to turn off the battery charger. That also "fixes" the static on AM radio.

Mine does the same thing when the speaker switch is set to radio. Annoying
I would like to find a fix.

As was mentioned above, the 'fix' is to leave the radio power set to the chassis batteries rather than the house batteries. That way it only gets power when the ignition is on.

theres a dash rocker switch(radio pwr) top is radio and bottom is house. Switch it to house and the clicking will stop. I believe it has to be in radio position for surround sound to work.

I was hoping to find a noise suppression filter to eliminate the noise.

I am told that my system does the same thing. The reason that I say that is that I cannot hear it (too many years around jet engines) but my wife can and that makes it my problem. Since I cannot hear it I don't know when it occurs or stops but I am told that no switch position I have tried with any switch has stopped the noise.

When I was at Forest City 3 years ago they said there was a "Fix" for that but I was afraid to let them do something that would affect something else that I wouldn't know about until later and would regret letting them mess with it. Suppose I should have but it wasn't that big a problem and I had much bigger problems to have them working on at that time. Seems like once you get the big ones taken care of then you start concentrating on the little frustrating ones.

hi..if you call the distributor riverpark in chicago they can send you a filter or tell you how to eliminate this..technically the amp is supposed to shut down after 30 seconds without receiving a signal but without this filter the signal keeps resetting it..i had this happen after 6 months on my 2001 itasca and it has been fine for the past 8 years..jim..

I contacted Riverpark technical support today and they said I need a new amplifier. Cost: $140.00. I asked about filters to stop the ticking sound and they said they didn't think a filter would work. They said the reason the TV has a filter is due to 110 volt device on a 12 volt amplification system.
Since others have replied and said they have the same ticking sound, I cannot help but wonder if this is just a common problem with that amplifier and mine is not defective.
Since I have changed the TV to a LCD and replaced the Magadyne in-dash radio with an Alpine, I wonder if I wouldn't be better off with a different sound system?

Does anyone have any idea where this amplifier might be installed on the Winnebago coaches? I would have thought it was part of the radio but when one poster changed to a better radio and the ticking is still there the amplifier must be a separate item someplace.

Mine is located in the electrical bay underneath the driver's seat. Outside door gives access to all the 12 volt breakers and the Q-sound amp.

hi..my amp in the 2001 itasca 35u is located under the computer workstation on the passenger side dash..you can see it if you look under the opening near the foot area but to work on it you have to remove the workstation..things may have changed since the 2001 amp installation but at that time riverpark was very familiar with the problem and had no problem providing the filter..it is not a factory item but was hand made by a fellow named james..he took a standard capacitor and added plugs on both sides so all i had to do was unplug the wires from the amp and insert the filter between the wires and the amp..more recently i installed a new tv without variable audio output which prevents volume adjustment from the tv..they have a harness you attach between the tv speakers and the amp to solve that problem..i haven't tried that because it requires removing the tv and soldering wires to the speaker..hope this helps..jim

Allen - in the '04 Journey/Meridian the amp is under the driver's left foot rest. There may be a screw holding the foot rest down or if it's like mine, only the weight of the carpet held it down. I just lifted the foot rest and there it was...
