10X just means you get 10 of the bulbs for that price. The important number is the 'SMD'. That is how many LED (Light) chips that are on the light. This exanple has 18 chips - 3 on each side and 3 on the end.

If you have a need for 360° of light, like a tail light or such, those would work. Keep in mind that almost half the LEDS are on the back side. I bought some LED ones that were not SMD for my overhead lights and put chrome tape on the the reflectors with no noticeable gain it light. I would go with the flat panel. I did so for a couple of my enclosed trailer's overhead lights and they put out a respectable amount of light.

My rope light in overhead valance burnt out, I was considering one of the long 12volt surface mount strips to just lay up in that area. Would that work to give just some mood lighting, or would I have to mount that strip to something solid to hold it flat?

The mounting tape on the back side is marginal. You need a clean, dry surface to stick to and have very clean fingers when applying it, or it will come up.
Notice on the right of row 2 and 4, there are a couple ends coming up. The rest of them survived the 120°+ summer heat of Phx. I never checked, but I'm gonna guess it got over 120° in my MH.
The little wires are how I got power and ground from row 1 & 5 to rows 2 & 4. It was easier to solder there than on the ends.

Under cabinet 1156/1141 light fixtures.
1141 - 1.37 Amp
1156 - 2.02 Amp
48 LED Panel .22 Amp
21 Strip LEDs .13 Amp
Both on .35 Amp
1 - 1156 = 1.80 Amps more per light to boondock
than 1 - 48 LED panel or 1.67 amps more than
both Strip and Panel LED lights on.
21 Strip LEDs
48 LED Panel
1156 Bulb
1156 and 48 LED Panel
21 Strip LEDs and 1156
There is room to add more Strip LEDs in both fixtures.

I use the "1156 BA15S Car SMD bulb 18-5050 LED Warm White" as a direct replacement for 1/2 of my interior lighting (same size and fit). These 18 SMD LEDs are only about 1/2 as bright as the original 1156 bulbs and the LED lighting is a much softer light (you can get bright white, blue, etc but I got Warm White = soft light).
If I need /want more light - I just turn on one of the remaining original 1156 bulbs. This compromise of 1/2 LED and 1/2 standard lighting has worked well for me and the DW to reduce power usage during boondocking and provide adequate light (so I don't plan to change/upgrade). I am not a full timer and take week or two long trips using both campgrounds with and without power (50/50). These e-bay LED lights were shipped from China.

Depending on location, I did one LED and the other 1156 on the dual overheads light fixtures. You can also take a 3 LED strip, add a mini switch and have a nite light in the bathroom that you turn on at bed time or make position 1 as the nite light and position 2 as the bright and nite light or whatever. All sorts of of combinations and possibilities to save the amps.
