We traded our 2011 40u on a 2013 42qd a few months ago our 2011 had no issues keeping cool here in florida our 2013 struggles to keep its cool , what is the differance ? Has anyone else had this issue and resolved it ? If so how ? Also our mid ac makes a droning noise thrugh the coach they added a spacer and extragaskets but it did not help

We just spent four days in Phoenix when the temperature was 110° - 113°. Inside, it was 95° with the system on max cooling. It was pretty miserable.

Yikes..........RV's just can't take triple digit temps...........We spend the winter in Phoenix and it is great. Could not handle the summer temps. Will be heading there by November this year.

I believe the problem is: Number 1, more and larger slides add area to be cooled, Number 2, darker exterior colors. My neighbor has an expensive late model that even has a dark roof, can't cool it.

What color is the roof on your new RV? The side color? Years ago I helped refurbish a school bus for a youth group. On the roof you couldn't touch the yellow color in the sun it was so hot. We painted it off white and half way through I was on the roof sitting on the light color and could reach over to the original school bus yellow and could tell it was about 50º hotter than the new color. State laws have been changed and most allow white roofs while retaining the more visible yellow on the sides. I look at pretty new dark RVs and wonder about all that dark color.

Ensure all louvers on your return air holes are facing outward, (and filter screens are clean).
I would also run the system on hi cool versus auto cool during the afternoon.

The 2013 and 2011 are were darker colors but both have white roof the 2013 has 3 sllides (one full wall) the 2011 had 4 slides we had no cooling issues with the 2011 (40 ft) the 2013 is almost unbearable (42 ft) both had/have 3 ac units

Being that it is new, are you sure all 3 acs are working properly? You should see a 20 temp drop from intake vs cool. Test each unit independent, with a reading after 5 minutes of runtime.

I have a 35.5 outback travel trailer with a 13500 btu AC, last weekend was mid 90's and AC was running all day, never got cold till evening time. I just hunk in my case I need a bigger unit for this size trailer as we have two slides. Or see if I can add a second unit.

Wow, 95F inside the coach . As noted, I would get an infrared thermometer and check the discharge air temp from each AC when running on high cool. It should be at least a 20F delta from the ambient temp in the coach. If not, then maybe a problem with the AC unit/s.
The coach manufacturers (based on customer preference I guess) seem to favor darker colors. Our previous coach had the Tru Air basement AC system and kept us cool as long as we used the awning, window awnings, and a sun shade on the outside of the windshield. Our current coach has three roof AC's and while we've not yet been parked in triple digit heat (don't plan to unless we can't avoid it), at 90F outside and in full sun, front and rear AC's kept it as cool as we wanted it.....74F usually.
My previous coach, 2002 Journey, did not seem to have a very thick roof and there was absolutely no insulation in the front cap above the overhead cabinets. Has Winnebago increased the thickness of the roof (with more insulation) and added insulation to the front cap in their newer models?

I don't know about the insulation. I'd have to research that. The air from the vents was pretty cold, so I'm guess it was just a matter of being unable to keep up with the heat gain. I had all the awnings out, but no outside windshield shade. It was facing north so that wouldn't matter much. It was hot enough inside that the Dish receiver was overheating with the cabinet doors open all day.
Ours is mostly black, which doesn't help. The walls were warm, even with the awnings shading them. I guess 113° F days are too much to ask it to compete with.

I returned home yesterday evening pulled out my infared temp unit the battery was dead went to change the battery the positive snap came with the battery and ofcourse radioshack was out of 9volt battery clips (pet peeve they were out of much of their stock. How can they expect to sell anything if they don't stock it?) So I ordered from amazon I will pick up a second infrared unit thursday to keep in the coach

I can see several differences.
First: This has been one HOT and I mean HOT!!! summer. And many Air Conditioners have serious overload issues in this heat.. They just are NOT big enough
Second 2 more feet
Third,,,, Do you know what size you had on the 2011, and what size the A/C is on your 2013?
I mean if the 2011 had 15,000's and you now have 13,500's ... (nuff said)
Me, I had two 13,500's and now have one of each (One of them failed due to poor workmanship, Since Carrier is no longer in the RV business no point complaining, also it took 7 years)
Note that the new bigger A/C draws the same amprage when running.

The coach is 2ft longer yes but that is from the bedroom back (which stays cold) the front was /is the same (which is the area that will not stay cool) both coaches have 13500btu units I noticed the lack of cooling thefirst trip old coach trip down spent a day and night in old coach picked up new coach noticed lack of cooling next day so it is not just a hot summer issue

Do you have three AC's on the 42' coach? Most 42' and up have 3 AC's unless the two AC's are 15,000 BTU. Also, the windshield area does let a lot of heat in if you don't find a way to help block heat in that area.

About all I could find on insulation is that we have 1/2" foam in the walls. I couldn't find anything that mentioned the roof.
In our coach, the half bath was the coolest during the Phoenix trip. The cat slept next to the toilet almost the entire time. The air coming from the vents felt pretty cool, so it's got to be the minimal insulation. I had a 2008 Tour and a 2003 Excursion. None of them were great for summer travel in hot areas.
