I have my step switch set so that when I turn off the engine the steps are in, and when I open the door they extend and stay that way. No light on. I never change the switch position.

I set mine so it stays out, light off. I have a porch light.

It would drive me nuts to set it so the the step would go out and in every time the door was used, timer or no timer.

Mine worked for a while. Dont know the positions the switched were in.
I guess the bulb blew.
It did not serve a useful purpose, so....
