I had read that there was an access hole there...

I had read that there was an access hole there but hesitated to peel the rubber back. I managed by working under the cover.

On my 2014 Tour there is a nylon strap under the step to the left of center that manually releases the drive from the cover. You may have to use a clothes hanger or the like to grab it and pull it...
