2014 Tour inside step cover disassembly

The inside step cover in my coach started making noise and finally quit. I pulled out the drive mechanism and found the bushing that the worm gear drives through is stripped. I have pictures for anyone interested but can't figure out how to post them. The parts are available from the manufacturer.

Are the parts available from Winnebago? I haven't been able to get their parts pages to work for me.

No they are not. You have to go to MORryde International, RV Suspensions, TV Mounts, Sliding Trays and they will help you.
I worked for several hours to get the Winnebago parts pages to work. Finally got the Cortana viewer to load.

Call Lichtsinn RV at 800-343-6255. The are located about 1 mile from the WBGO factory and keep a good supply of parts.

MORryde will not sell me the individual parts but will sell the entire drive assembly. $254.00 + shipping. Not too happy about that.

My step cover switch activates the motor but step cover does not move. I have not been able to figure out how to access the drive mechanism. Help would be greatly appreciated.

On my 2014 Tour there is a nylon strap under the step to the left of center that manually releases the drive from the cover. You may have to use a clothes hanger or the like to grab it and pull it out. It is actually designed for when the cover is stuck out so you can push it back in. Pull the strap and pull the step out and you can see underneath it.
There are 2 quarter inch nuts on either side of the motor and 2 more at the other end. Access to the far end is under the coach between the left side compartment and the generator.

We had SUCH intermittent no power issues with our step cover! Finally found the plug, cut it off and spliced the wires. Haven't had an issue since!

On my 2014 Tour, if you remove the rubber strip covering the face of the step cover, essentially the stair riser, there are screws and an access plate that can be removed to allow better access to the step cover mechanism. Not fun to get that rubber strip off there though. I took the rubber strips off the stair risers and replaced with wood-look vinyl floor strips.

My wife has decided she doesn't need the step cover anymore, so we leave it in while traveling.

I had read that there was an access hole there but hesitated to peel the rubber back. I managed by working under the cover.
