New to Forum - Minnie Winnie 2108DS

New to Forum and first travel trailer. Had our new 2020 Minnie Winnie 2108DS delivered yesterday, we did not want to drive the 300 miles round trip to pick it up and interact with folks we do not know due to virus concerns. The dealer has been great to work with and are readily available to answer questions by phone and was able to deliver for a very reasonable fee, but we were not able to do the walk through to learn about the various systems. Dealer is not around today so maybe I can get an answer to a refrigerator question, I have watched youtube and read the manual and can not quite figure it out.

Do I need the power on to run refrig on propane and when driving down the road and you have auto setting on refrig does the battery run frig or does propane run frig.

Thanks for the help

Welcome!

On Auto the fridge will run on Propane whenever there is not 110v power present. So driving down the road it runs on Propane. The circuit board in the fridge does use the battery but, that’s simply to control the electronics not to cool the fridge.

As mentioned, the refrigerator while running on propane does require a battery connection for the electronics. Unfortunately there are a lot of parasitic drains on the battery while sitting so you should get in the habit of disconnecting the battery (most likely a dial switch in the front left compartment) whenever the trailer will be sitting for days without use. That will prevent your battery from running down and prolong battery life. I go a bit further an pull the batteries so I can easily charge them at home (I store remotely).

BTW, there is a forum here for Winnebago trailers, but a lot of folks do post just whereever, and this post was hardly specific to trailers. https://www.winnieowners.com/forums/f267/
