I sure wish that WB would buy Sportsmobile to make sure that a little bit of the good old days is always available for folks who like to really camp :

Sportmobile is doing really well on their own. We have some friends that custom designed and had them build a short wheelbase 4X4 Sprinter that cost as much as our 38' Class A. They love it have put over 40,000 miles on it in 2-years.

We meet up with them 2 or 3 times a year and camp together. It's really super nice.

They had theirs built at the same time WBGO came out with the Revel - placed their order with Sportmobile about 3 months before the Revel was announced. Theirs turned out similar but they really customized it for them.

Well....
Looking at the price of a Ford E-350 based C-Class with a full-bath and space for 6 I wonder why I should invest more than twice as much in a Mercedes Sprinter or similar that offers much less space (and only a weth bath). If I want to be off the paved roads and enjoy the loneliness of the prairie, a bike, a tent and a teakettle is much more authentic...

Happy camping!

We have taken our 2005 24 foot Itasca Class C off paved roads many times over the last 14 years.

We bought it on the E450 chassis. It has good pickup-type ground clearance and large tanks for a small rig.
