I have a 2015 Itasca Sunstar 35f using a Xantrex xm1000 inverter. I just changed out the 2 house batteries with AGM's but getting an error code E05/OL. According to my manual this is an overload or short circuit. I reset the GFI on the inverter but no luck. Can anyone point me in right direction. Not total newbie but limited with electrical issues. I have triple checked all of my connections.

Read in your manual how to reset the device. They are sensitive to hooking and unhooking the DC side. Turn off any load when reconnecting.

A 1000w inverter is easy to overload by running even a toaster oven or some coffee makers. Either device can easily surpass 1000w causing the overload. And when you do that you must reset the device. It’s not a GFCI issue, not that kind of reset.

Hard Reboot (Recommended): Disconnect the negative (or positive) DC cable directly from the battery for 5–10 minutes to clear memory and error codes.

I disconnected the batteries cables completely but the unit keeps beeping. Where is it getting power from??? Trying to do a hard reset. Obviously I am not connected to shore power.

Does your DC cables have 2 pos and 2 neg to the house batteries? One set will be for the inverter and the other for the house lighting, appliances, etc.

At least one brand of inverters state to remove the pos cable first, and reattach last., but my Xantrex RS2000 and 3012 says neg. Your inverters installation or operators manual is gospel here.

I completely disconnected the batteries and left it'sit overnight. Reconnected today and it is the same error code. Looks like I may need to make an appointment with our local dealership. Bummer 😞

Replace it, its an old school modified sine wave inverter and wont even run an electric blanket. Its also hard on your modern appliances. Replace it with a PURE sine wave inverter. I had the Xantrax 1000xm, it would also beep and cut power randomly, I swapped it for a pure sine last winter.

I wouldn't have the dealer do it, try to find a local solar RV guy, probably swap it for a fraction of what the dealer will want. Its just positive and negative cables on both sides of it, the remote switch uses a phone cable, we modified the original one to work with the new inverter.

BIG giggle for the day?
I'm no expert on inverter, so often lookd for guides. One way I'm trying out in several fields is checking what Copilot AI may turn up.
In this case I would have to deem the advise they referr to as a bit below the expert level?

Beware what you say, your children may be watching!:LOL::ROFLMAO:

I suspect there is a good troubleshooting guide online but I don't feel I've found it here, just yet! Rather I sometimes feel it's more like I'm talking to myself on some questions?

Before going to all the trouble and expense of replacement, I would first try this chart for solving the trouble:
Being from the builder of the inverter, I would deem it more likely to know what is needed!

My replacement Renogy was only $300 and fit in the exact stock location. Its not a big ticket item and you really shouldn't be running a choppy modified sine wave in 2026.

OP you want one with an auto transfer switch like the xantrax had.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I did speak with Xantrex Technical support and they are telling me that if I do a hard reset and that does not clear the error code the unit itself most likely has a problem. Since I have already done that I am pretty confident it is time for a new inverter.
