Hello, I just picked up a new 2022 2108FLX. I have already changed all the settings on the xantrex, lithionics and GoPower thanks to this message board. Every thing worked great while at a park camping for three days. After getting home I changed the breaker service on the xantrex to 15amps but with the AC running and the xantrex my GFCI in the garage keep tripping. This happened with my last trailer if I started the hot tub that is also plugged to the garage. I have not run the hot tub but the GFCI trips. I only want to run the AC (90 degrees outside!) and let the panels keep the battery charged. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, you can turn the inverter/charger off. What’s happening is your A/C is using basically all of the 15 amps of your outlet and the charger in your inverter is trying to charge your battery so there are not enough amps available to do both at the same time. Same thing you saw with your hot tub, too.

If possible have a 30-amp RV outlet installed in your garage or near your driveway where you park the RV.

I had one installed at my previous home (we just moved 2-weeks ago) and it was a great help for little cost. I think the installation was under $250, but that was 15 yrs ago.

EDIT: this is from your specs page:

Your 400W solar will not allow running the A/C unit continually, even though you have 980W battery bank. The A/C unit will draw approx. 13A/hr of run time.

Thanks for the reply. Next question, how do I turn it off? I tried at the panel just inside the door.
Just turn off the panel just inside the door. If OFF, none of the lights on the panel should be active. Even if you are camping and not using the inverter you should keep it off. It pulls a lot of juice even if not being used. Makes a big difference in battery usage.

To answer is yes the inverter can be turned off when plugged into shore power. It is actually not even needed when you are plugged into shore power. I have 2021 FLX2108 DS that I have taken from Maine to Oregon and across most of the Gullf States. it has been a great trailer. The easiest way to manage the Xantrex is to just leave it off unless you need it.

I may be late to the game on this but I might throw in a question on what is making the
GFCI trip?
Are you sure it is tripping due to overload or is it tripping due to what it senses as a ground fault?
Is it the amount of current flowing or is there a mismatch on the grounding between RV and house which it senses as ground fault?
I fully agree that 15 amp is suspect to run AC but you may also want to be alert to problems with ground fault not liking the setup ???
Have you made sure it is the amount of current by trying things with less current to see if it also trips then? In other words, is the GFCI tripping due to a grounding issue or it is actually an overload?
I normally think of GFCI as a ground safety item while the breaker is the control for current!

One way to verify it is an actual current overload is to wire around the GFCI temporary and see if it then trips the breaker.

Remember the Xantrex is an Inverter/Charger. When on shore power the charger still works if the inverter is off. So if the small button is in the out position the inverter is off. If you unplug from shore power, there should be nothing showing on the panel. When you plug into shore power the charger is activated, and it will show the battery charge. Just keep the small button in the out position all the time unless you need the inverter. It makes a big difference if you are boondocking.

This is from the Xantrex manual. I'm not sure if it answers your question.

Transitioning from Battery Mode to Grid Mode
When the unit is operating in Battery Mode and shore power
becomes available, the Freedom XC begins a 20-second
countdown to verify the stability of the shore power. If shore
power remains stable for a 20-second countdown, at the end of
the countdown, the Freedom XC will switch to shore power mode
within 20 milliseconds and start drawing power from the AC
source.
The operating mode indicator will change to grid mode and the
green Status LED for grid mode will light up.
