Xantrex 1000 inverter help

I replaced the 2 house batteries today.New batteries same as old ones but maintenance free.
I was very careful to not cross polarity and reinstalled the new batteries the same way. During the install process, it appears that the ANN 150 buss fuse blew in the battery compartment behind the fuse bank....Now the inverter will not operate at all..won't boot up on shore power or battery. I cannot find any info on this 150 amp fuse and how it affects the functionality of the inverter?
I will try to pick one up and see if that is the fix but wondering if anyone else has run across this issue.The wall mounted start/remote is dead too.Inverter is getting plenty of power when on shore power when checked with volt meter.
If anyone knows who may handle this fuse that would be appreciated....saw them online only. See attached photo.

That is an ANN fuse, a fast blowing and more expensive version of the more common ANL fuse. Here is one on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Cooper-Bussm...&keywords=150a+ann+fuse&qid=1617707838&sr=8-5

I suspect during your battery changeout, some ground wire hit the hot terminal and blew the fuse. Replace it and I bet your inverter will work again.

On a trip I needed a similar style fuse, not sure what rating I needed but same dimensions. Found what I needed at a chain auto parts store.

Hopefully it’s just that fuse.

There is a notice in my Operator’s Manual that warns to always disconnect the positive lead on the battery first before removing the negative leads to keep from damaging the inverter. At least there is that warning in my manual.

I just noticed that you said Xantrex inverter and mine is a Magnum inverter - so nothing I posted above may apply to you.

Found one locally at a forklift parts supply company.
Will install it tomorrow and see if that fixes the problem.

Replacement of that ANN 150amp fuse did the trick...all functions of the inverter are fine now..

Late Comments:

Yes, if you need that type of fuse immediately, larger auto parts houses or marine parts stores (like West Marine). Just never replace with a slow-blow (ANL).

With any inverter, always connect the negative cable last (and remove it first). On some, you will get a small arc on the final negative connection.

* Did you turn off your BDS before you attached the battery cables?

* Any chance your inverter has a temperature probe... that is supposed to be connected to the NEG battery terminal, and you mistakenly connected it to the positive terminal?

That fuse is there to protect the cable from causing a fire due to a short in the inverter.

Sounds like you have short. Why did your house batteries go dead in the first place? Age or problems?

Shorts go to ground, so with your batteries disconnected, take your multimeter and switch it to "continuity test" and see if your positive cable causes a "beep" on the multimeter when you touch the other probe to ground?

Good advice on disconnecting the cables...I blew the fuse myself when I accidentally hit the hot lead with my socket wrench..

Spare Fuse

OP here...thanks to all who commented.

Replacement of that ANN 150amp fuse did the trick...all functions of the inverter are fine now..

Keep a spare on hand.
We also keep a smaller-amperage spare handy. If the "big" fuse blows, a smaller one should be enough to at least boot up the inverter, but with less likelihood that additional damage is done if the fault is internal to the inverter.
