I have been wanting to upgrade to an Itasca Suncruiser 38J but am concerned about the CCC being so low. I want to use this rig for full timing so CCC is more important than it has been in the past. Why doesn't Winnebago offer the Workhorse 25.5 chassis? Workhorse advertises that the 24 and 25.5 chassis are identical is size and connections so that the manufacturer does not have to reengineer anything to use the heavier chassis. I would sure be more willing to buy a rig with a CCC of 3,000 pounds than one with 1,500 pounds.

Ballpark numbers, I'll update them later, but want to add a little.

Our CCC is 2188 pounds, Winnebago "rates" ours with 5 sleeping positions. I've seen others rate theirs with 2, even with the same number of beds! Noting how many 156 pound sleeping postions are alloted could help this discussion.

In 1999 they did not use "sleeping positions" as part of the equation. The rated CCC, at 3933 included fuel, propane, and water, but no passengers.

I wanted to know, as close as possible, what my true CCC was. When I took delivery of the rig, I filled it with gas, filled the propane tank, added 1/3 tank of fresh water, and took the rig to the scales. The UVW, according to Winnebago was 16,567. My actual weight, loaded as described, with me, wife, and 2 Shih Tzu's on board was 17,300 lbs. GVWR of the rig is 20,500, leaving an actual CCC of 3,200. So, the 3,933 in my ealier post is the sticker number.

Still, 3,200 actual CCC for a gas rig ain't bad.

My diesel w/Spartan chassis is 3,293 with full fuel, water, & LP ...no people. Full fluids weigh 1,752 ...we would almost never travel with the full 905 lbs of water!

Ours is about 2700 when we figure our average water, etc. More than enough for us.

D0novanP: Before you get to disappointed be sure to understand all that's included when they determined the ccc of your coach. It seems that the weights included change as time goes on. Our ccc is in addition to the full tank of gas, full tank of fresh water, full tank of propane, and 770 lbs of people.
The difference between the empty weight of the coach @ 16,216 lbs (which still includes a full tank of gas) and the max gross weight of 20,500 lbs is 4,284 lbs.
I would think that weight could consist of any combination of things you want to carry. If you only have 2 people there's another 462 lbs of cargo thet can be carried. If you travel without water onboard that frees up another 750 lbs.
I think try're trying to say when they publish the ccc is that you can only carry the rated amount if all the other limits for fuel, water, propane, and people have been reached

I weighed our '04 32' Brave with full fuel, propane, fresh,black and gray water tanks. Obviously no one would ever drive like that.

On second thought, maybe they would...but I digress.

Anyway it came out to 1525 lbs. CCC. The full water tanks account for about 8-900 pounds so we are easily at 2,000 lbs. CCC.

This weight was measured by RVSEF with each individual wheel being weighed simultaneously.

Way good enough for us.

My CCC as listed for my 2006 40KD is 4335

Here's what is also on that sheet under the double asterik...

CCC is equal to GVWR MINUS each of the following: UVW,FULL fresh (potable) water weight including water heater,full propane weight and SCWR.Dealer installed equipment and TONGUE WEIGHT will reduce CCC.

ALSO SCWR or Sleeping Capacity is defined as "manufacturers designated number of sleeping positions multiplied by 154 pounds....

It's been a REAL long time since I've weighed 154 pounds....

My KD has a Queen Bed,a Couch sleeper and the booth dinette....Forgetting the booth dinette,but shouldn't the couch be rated for TWO people?

I think that the manufacturer rates "seating capacity" in the CCC as they install seat belts for those...

Our coach's CCC includes 5 people ....

That doesn't work either Mark,as I have seat belts on both couches,as well as two in the booth dinette....came that way from the factory.

Your Voyage floorplan even shows seat belts for eight....
