What’s the logic of black awnings and roof fixtures?

Just yesterday I climbed onto the roof of my new to me 2019 Forza to wash it. As I washed I began questioning why the A/C, roof vents, and awnings were black… Why would anyone use black covers in an environment where we are normally trying to reduce the temperature? I haven’t yet taken a trip in the heat of summer, but expect that the black A/C cover doesn’t help with the efficiency of rejecting heat from the interior. And, those black slide toppers… And, the awnings. Oh well, fashion over function!

Just thinking

Black roof fixtures

I have been told by a reliable source in the industry the black will last longer with the sun and heat being least detrimental to the product. Travato John

Yes, I learned a long time ago that UV resistant products are black. Everything from zip ties to power cords. Doesn't make sense but it is what it is.

Black is actually the most efficient color for radiating heat. Ever notice that all heatsinks and car radiators are painted black? I don't know the logic for awnings but it makes sense for any unit that generates heat.
