Weight Distribution Hitch or not

Hi. I recently traded my Chevy Silverado 1500 truck for a Ford F350 DRW truck. I've always used the Fastway e2 weight distribution hitch on my Chevy but now I ask if it is necessary to use it on my Ford F350?

I don't see any squatting on the F350.

Does your Fastway hitch also provide anti-sway control? If so, I'd continue to use it.

You'll get a million opinions on this one.


But the towing experts generally have a horse in the raise and mostly want to sell you something.


If your setup is within manufacturers specs, don't bother, not sure what you're towing but F350's suspensions are pretty stiff


Unless you're towing well north of 7500 LBS..

What are you towing with it? If you have any concerns keep using what you have at least for peace of mind.

It's not rear squat you should be looking at. It's rise on the front end of your truck. WDHs put the a portion of the weight back on the front end so that you have more normal steering control and handling. You test proper WDH setup by getting the front end closer to a normal height (but certainly not less than what it was before the trailer was connected).

You don't mention anything about the size or weight of your trailer, or the tongue capacity of your truck. I doubt you're anywhere near the capacities of your truck, but if you were to go to Lowes and pick up something that weighed 500 pounds, would you position that in the rear of your truck bed all behind the back axle for a long distance drive? 500 pounds of tongue weight would be even worse because it's leverage point is even further back, having more of an impact on the front tires.
