Vista Engine Hood Bracket

I've seen several previous threads about the main engine hood bracket coming unglued from the chassis / hood, but this one is a bit different and I haven't been able to find one for what I need. Any help that can be offered will be GREATLY appreciated!

My situation is not with the main bracket, but with the "bumper / vibration" brackets that buffer the movement of the hood while in motion and that bump up against bolts with some rubber end caps.

We do not need the entire bracket assembly, just the one part that is the L-shaped "buffer bracket". The parts that we need are not attached to anything other than the inside of the engine hood cover, and appear to have been attached with some sort of epoxy previously. (Both are lower parts, one left and one right.)

Picture #1 shows the left hand side of the hood (as looking from the engine out towards the front of the cover). The #1 arrow pointing at the top bracket is one of that is still attached, the #2 arrow is pointing at the bottom bracket that is missing.

Picture #2 shows the same, only for the right hand side of the hood.

Picture #3 shows the entire bracket assembly, which as I mentioned above we do not need.

Pictures #4-6 are of one of the brackets that has fallen off.

Winnebago was of zero help and they are not shown on their parts site; local dealers and supply shops were the same. I'd like to find the correct parts without having to try to find someone to fabricate them, or trying to come up with a DIY mess if possible.

Any ideas on where to find this bracket??? The hood is extremely loose without these in place and the DW is very uncomfortable with the situation.

I'd call Lichtsinn RV parts in Forest City IA and discuss. You can text them the photo of the bracket you are looking to buy. I suspect Winnebago still makes them and hopefully the parts expert at Lichtsinn can find a part # or if not discuss with Winnebago to see if they can make on to provide you at reasonable cost.

Bones20023, I think you may have finally solved my mystery!! Thank you VERY much!!

I tried finding the part via the site noted below, but it doesn't show this bracket for my 2020 Vista 27P. (See picture.)

I, did, however, find the part number that you indicated and did a search for it and came up with the attached picture, which looks like it the exact part that I need.

I'll contact Winnebago and see if they can help; thanks again, I really appreciate the assist!!

Where you can cosmetically give some thought to using stainless steel bolts to hold bracket parts - we're doing that on a lot of the genny slides. Where you can't a 2-part epoxy may work - get some recommendations from WBGO, auto repair shops, etc.

AND - one owner put a loose safety wire on the brackets so if they came loose they wouldn't disappear and it makes a nice 'came loose' alarm...

RAJTAJ, you are welcome. I hope you can find the part. Check the brackets that hold the front grill too. I just noticed three of mine have broken loose.

Bones2003, sounds like a few more trips up and down beaten up I-5 in California and I might just expect the front end to drop off...that should make the DW feel all warm and fuzzy...

Winnebago actually replied back that they have that part for $33 each + shipping...may be stuck going with them if I can't find another solution, but it sure seems steep for a lousy 3" piece of cheap bent bar stock.

if your regluing, it was mentioned on another post involving the hood brackets, grind the paint off of the side of the bracket that touches glue. some stated that's why they fall off.
I ended up getting all the two-part epoxy stuff and drilling holes for my hood brackets. good luck

I am not sure that your particular year and model are involved, but Winnebago announced a recall of the hood brackets last month. I understand that letters have not gone out yet though.

Thanks for this recall, I have not seen as yet. I did get a recall a few weeks ago on front signal lights.

I had this happen to me while in transit and I reported to WBGO so I hope I am one of the 344 that reported. I wish to know remedy because I paid out of pocket for my own solution with a mobile tech because at the time WBGO was going to have the dealer just repeat the same procedure that was use when it was made when it was obviously a faulty design.

Yes, thank you very much for this recall notice! I, too, have only received the pre-notice on the indicator light issue and not on this one. Will definitely be looking into this further now as my year/model is indeed listed here. I appreciate your reply and insight!

An old problem that just keeps giving. I have had to reglue several pieces to the front and back fiberglass assemblies. Three on the front generator access, and the whole grill assembly at the engine. I have used JB Weld, Epoxy, and Construction Adhesive at various times. The key is surface prep, buff that fiberglass and metal mating surfaces completely, and apply adhesive liberally, and clamp. So far so good, repairs have been holding for 8 - 10 years.

I like the earlier mentioned safety wire glued in place, in case a part falls off, you don't lose it.

One hint, on the rear engine grill, too big, ungainly, require more clamps than I had, just tough to hold long term for adhesive to cure. I used a very strong construction adhesive for the most of the glueing but used several 1" spots of JB Weld 5-minute epoxy to hold it immediately and give the adhesive its three-day curing time without much clamping. After many years of driving and engine vibration, that grill is still solid.
