Using the Macerator Pump on a 2013 Access Premier

Hi, I have a 2013 access premier. I’ve never had a macerator pump before and I haven’t figure out how to use it. I’ve tried running it with the black tank valve, I’ve been told to hook up the hose and run it then. None of these work . When I turn it on (by the outside shower) I can hear it running but nothing happens. When is the correct time to turn this on and how do I run it. I’ve read the owners manual and it’s not very helpful.

Follow the steps on page 7-7 and 7-8 as they are as clear as I can make it. Drain the black tank as the steps show, close that valve and open the valve to let the grey tank drain when you turn the pump on. check the picture and description of where to find the valves.
If you are hearing the pump but nothing is coming out, either you do not have any waste water in the grey tank or you did not open the valve that is described.
The steps seem to be as clear as I can tell you how to do it.
The book is correct, so ignore the folks telling you to do it in a different way!

HEH! If that works, it sounds like a winner. But don't feel bad if making mistakes, that is often what makes us human and I always keep that excuse on hand!
If you don't make a few mistakes, we may begin to think we are perfect and NOBODY wants that guy around!

Trust me, after my macerator pump demonstration, nobody is in danger of mistaking me for perfect. I prefer to think of it as a hands-on learning experience... emphasis on the mess. I was confused why it would be on the grey instead of the black but think I figured out it might have to do with lack of gravity feed due to the tank location

Right, it likely has to have the pump because the drain has to go up and over something like the axle?

Catch 22 depending location you may have a 2nd black valve on my vista 27pe the pump is on the passenger side under the black tank behind a small panel door their is another black valve gate valve if nothing is flowing then it likely closed before the Mercator pump

Then you pull it open then the other black tank valve by the hose and hold down on the on switch why a momentarily on switch guess it prevent burnout and hold for until it empties

Ok so I have been trying different things and had a bit of a disaster! I have two drains. A black tank drain valve behind the driver’s side wheel and a grey tank drain valve just in front of the passenger side rear wheels. I found the masserater located near the grey tank drain. So, I drained the black tank and hadn’t put the cap back on yet. I went to drain the grey tank and turned on the macerator after opening the valve. While there was drain coming out of the grey tank as soon as I turned on the macerator the black tank started spitting out gunk! Like a river. So I feel like the macerator is flushing grey tank water through the black tank to flush it out. But when I try to run it without opening the grey valve nothing happens. maybe I need to look for another valve opening at the grey tank and I just dump from the black tank? Boy!

So I got it sorted down to which RV you have and snipped a picture of the system to show what is happening.
You have the two tanks but they both drain out the same big outlet. It is always good to drain the black tank first as we can then let the grey water help flush any solid waste out of the drain hose before we store it. So we do the black first in this numbered order.

This looking from the front side toward the rear with the main oulte under the black tank and valve.
Step 1 connectt he drain tube to the sewer.
step 2 pull the black tank handle to open it and leave it open as that tank drains.
Step 3 when black tank stops running, close that valve and go to rear where the grey tank and valve are located
Step 4 open the grey tank drain valve. You may hear some water run but not much as it has to go up to get out!
Step 5 turn on the pump and it should pump the water up and through the tube to where it connects to the main drain near the black tank valve!
Step 6. When you hear the sound change when it runs out of water, turn the pump off
Step 7 close the grey tank valve, disconnect the drain tube and store it!
All done!
Hint? There are times when it may be good to run some fresh water through the drain tube if you can see waste still in it? I never like to haul more of that around than I need!

Thank you Morich. I think I figured out my problem. In my owners manual and in your drawing there is only the one drain by the black tank to hook the dump hose to. My unit has two. One connected to the black tank and one connected to the grey tank. Here’s a picture of the grey tank. The macerator is behind the black hose and when it’s running it does send the water to the black tank drain. I will either need to block this grey outlet or see if the macerator is strong enough to keep grey water from running out the drain with the cap on.

I see a receipt. It looks like the previous owner put a new macerator in it a couple of years ago. I wonder if they added this sewer hose hook up to it when they did that.
