Member Title: 2004 Itasca Meridian - Lithium battery And Boost Button?
Members are exploring whether a 2004 Itasca Meridian’s boost contactor—designed to connect house and chassis batteries for emergency starting—can safely function when the house batteries are upgraded to lithium (Li) while the chassis remains flooded lead acid (FLD). The original poster notes that battery management system (BMS) technology for lithium is evolving and seeks real-world experiences with mixed battery types and the boost feature, especially in cold weather or low-charge...

I have a 2014 Itasca Meridan. Chassis batteries are low maintenance FLA, coach batteries were 6xGroup 31 AGM. I am in the process of upgrading to 2x300AH LiFePo.

Based on my research I have come to the conclusion that I needed to upgrade my Inverter/Charger controller, and install a Li BIM. As far as the the Boost switch, leave it connected, use it to "charge" the chassis batteries, then start the engine.

On my rig the generator is started from the house batteries (LiFePo). From my research as long as the BMS is 400+ it should be able to handle the starting surge for up to a QD 10,000 generator. I will know for sure in a couple of weeks when I get done with the upgrade on my coach. FWIW I have a QD 8,000.

I am in the middle of replacing an ATS that burned up last week. Come to find out apparently tinning the end of larger wires is no longer a best practice, apparently the factory is not up to date.

We have a 2004 new to us Merdian G it has 4 (fla or agm, I haven't looked yet} house batteries .
It has a BIG residential refer so as a test I disconnected ground power and let the inverter run the coach for about 3 hours and it showed the house batteries still at over 80%.
I thought that was awsome until I looked at the house batteries close enough to see they were rated at 225ah. I've never heard of a 225ah battery and my Journey only had 3 house batteries..
